I went to the dentist today. I am now officially one of those people who absolutely despises going to the dentist. I cringe at the thought of sitting in that chair. My visit started like any normal visit, my mouth was open uncomfortably wide and I was gagging on my own saliva as it crept down the back of my throat. I tried to relax and distract myself from the drilling but all I could really think about was grabbing the suction out of the assistants hand and putting it exactly where I wanted it. Every minute seemed like an hour. I continued to endure when I my jaw felt incredibly uncomfortable. The dentist and assistant asked the usual, “how are you doing”, and this time I just couldn’t take the pain. I nodded my head no, and started touching my jaw. It was my attempt to communicate with out using words. Seeing my distress the dentist asked, “is it too sensitive?” I nodded my head no and again pointed to my jaw. The dentist said, “don’t worry we are almost done.” The last few minutes were unbearable. After they were finished I was so relived except for the fact that my JAW WOULD NOT CLOSE! I sat there and tried to close my mouth but nothing! So to make a long story short, my a jaw had become dislocated and I had to make a visit to Overlake Hospital’s ER. I felt like the biggest dork walking around with my mouth wide open, drooling and unable to talk. luckily the doctor I had in the ER was awesome and was able to pop it back into place with out any further pain. All though the whole experience was awful I felt even worse for my poor little Lena who ended up missing her friends birthday party. I went home and Lena and I had our own birthday party with her stuffed animals as friends. Tonight when we said bedtime prayers Lena asked that he mommy would be able to open her mouth and not have a hurt mouth.
On a much happier note, here are my kids in their Haloween costumes.
